People Business Partner

We're looking for a People Business Partner (HRBP) to join our East of England Local Business Unit (LBU). This is a time of exciting transformation at First Bus as we become a more people centric business. This is a hybrid role with travel across East of England (Essex & Norwich).

 

The Role
 As a People Business Partner you'll support delivery of the strategic people agenda within your Local Business Unit. This will include a range of activity spanning: employee engagement, ED&I, change management, HR-related internal and external communication activity. You'll also be involved in projects and talent and performance management activity, sharing responsibility and accountability for outcomes as defined by the Head of People in line with the First Bus people strategy and using agreed metrics. 

You'll act with integrity and role model inspirational leadership and the First Bus values and behaviours (‘our way') across your local business unit and the broader business.

 

What You'll Be Doing

• Analyse data on organisation structure, accountabilities, and spans of control to support the business and SLT in effective strategic decision making.
 • Assess the impact of key initiatives on factors such as behaviour, attitudes, culture, systems, and communication flows.
 • Evaluation of roles and responsibilities, ensuring people objectives for key roles are fit for purpose and objectives are aligned to the overall business and people strategy.
 • Coach and advise leaders in relation to the effectiveness of teams to ensure effective business performance and cross-team collaboration.
 • Work with leaders/stakeholders to support them in developing the case for change, including the vision for change, key milestones, challenges, and what success looks like
 with appropriate measures.
 • Support acquisition activity, ensuring the effective transfer (via TUPE where appropriate) and integration of employees into First Bus.
 • Work with leadership to continuously improve relationships with Trade Unions and actively seek involvement of the TU in change projects to support better and more collaborative working relationships.
 • Support the Head of HR in delivering the complex and difficult change/HR Projects cross functionally as required, building robust and highly credible stakeholder relationships built 
 on a deep knowledge of the function's business plans & priorities.

 

What We're Looking For

It goes without saying that you'll be skilled in building credibility as a HR generalist and business leader who is commercially astute and able to quickly build effective working relationships, engaging and influencing at a senior stakeholder level. You'll also need to take a pragmatic and flexible approach with our operational teams.


 • Strong time management and the ability to prioritise and deliver within a matrix structure 
 • Analytical with the ability to interrogate data to inform commercial decision making.
 • You'll be someone who's able to effectively monitor and evaluate trends in HR thought-leadership and translate into business strategy.
 • Ability to deliver effective and strategic training programs that support the overall business and people objectives.
 • Proven ability to adapt to new and developing technologies and use to enhance day to day outputs.
 • Understanding of relevant UK employment legislation and its practical application 
 • Keeps up to date with external trends and best practice, both from an HR and industry perspective 
 • Qualified CIPD (Graduate or Member) (desirable dependent upon experience).
